Both the Raiders and Saints are off to good starts. I trust the Saints more, especially being at home. New Orleans has won five of its last seven games going back to last season. Spread-wise, the Saints have covered eight in a row.
The Raiders opened with a home victory against the Dolphins, who are projected to have the worst record in the NFL. They then upset the winless Chargers, who could turn out to be the most overrated team.
The Saints rank second in passing yards. They are going to throw a lot, testing a Raiders secondary that ranks 29th in yards per completion.
The Raiders improved their offensive line during the off season. Still, it's an average at best O-line. The Raiders are below average at running the ball ranking 23rd in rushing yards.
Drake Maye is off to a slow start. Already he has had four interceptions. I actually would take Trevor Lawrence above him. Offensive mastermind Liam Coen has unlocked Lawrence's vast potential turning him into a dual threat while providing him with a deep set of receivers.
The Jaguars struggled against the tough Broncos defense last week. This is a step down in class defensively for Jacksonville as the Patriots are dealing with several key defensive injuries.
There have been 72 and 61 combined points in the Lions' first two games, both of which sailed Over the total. I don't see things changing. So I find this a generous low total to go Over once again with Detroit.
The Lions have a high scoring offense, which is at its peak efficiency at home inside their dome stadium. Jared Goff is at his best in this setting.
The Lions have had extra time to prepare having played last Thursday. They are expected to get back their right tackle and left guard who had been injured. That is going to be a boost for Goff. The Jets' pass rush has been only mediocre despite going against two of the worst offensive lines, the Titans and Packers. Jahmyr Gibbs should be in for a big game, too, with run-stopping DL David Onyemata out for the Jets.
I find the Jets offense to be better than perceived. Geno Smith is an upgrade at quarterback from what they've had and he has two excellent skill position players in running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
The bar is set very low for Smith here as the Lions have surrendered 549 yards, six touchdowns and a field goal in their last eight defensive possessions. Their only stop during this span was a missed desperation 62-yard FG attempt by Daniel Carlson at the end of regulation last week.
