Rockets’ Tough Schedule

December 15, 2009

Houston Rockets coach Rick Adelman criticized the NBA on Monday for his team’s schedule which includes four back-to-back games over the next two weeks.  It all starts tonight when Houston has to face Detroit at home before flying to Denver to play the Nuggets tomorrow night.  Then on Friday they pay a visit to the Mavericks before returning home on Saturday to take on the Thunder.  The Rockets then will have to play two games on consecutive nights twice more during the week of Christmas.

Houston will play at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on December 22nd then head to Orlando for a game against the Magic on the 23rd.  This is followed by road games in New Jersey on the 26th and Cleveland on the 27th.

There are a lot of games, which means less time to practice and prepare, but it also means less time for players to spend with their families around the holiday.

The good news for Rockets fans is that the team is 5-0 in the second games of back-to-backs this season, but 1-4 in the first games. They have 10 road games in December, but by the All-Star break, they will have played 26 road games and 25 at home.
