Allen Iverson’s time with the Memphis Grizzlies has come to an end.   On Monday it was announced that the team had ended its one-year experiment with the troubled 10-time All-Star and former league MVP after just three games. He had left the team to deal with “personal issues” about a week ago, but it was clearly in regards to his limited playing time with the team. He was very vocal about his displeasure about coming off the bench and felt that his resume was enough to grant him the starting point position.

Although Iverson was not placed on waivers by the 6 p.m. ET deadline Monday, this story is all over the wire waves and will be a done deal by tomorrow.

With his diminished output and off the court issues, there weren’t really any teams that were interested in his services in the off-season. Memphis signed him as a way to boost ticket sales and have a veteran guy to support their prized draft pick, O.J. Mayo.

Well, the Grizzlies fans, many of whom showed up for his introductory news conference and purchased an Iverson Memphis jersey, will never even get to see him play live, at least in a Grizzlies uniform. Sadly, Iverson never played a game on the team’s home court as they opened up on the road in California.

What’s next for Iverson is anyone’s guess, but it’s unlikely any team will want the headache of taking on such a big ego. Stay tuned for props on which NBA team will take the risk, as BetUS is always coming up with interesting bets like this.
