The New Orleans Hornets will head to Dallas on Monday, December 14th to take on the Mavericks. The home team is the heavy favorite here, as the books are currently listing Dallas as a nine-point favorite with the total set at 197.5. If you have been having trouble beating the NBA point spreads this year then maybe it’s time you get a little help. Our experts offer NBA picks each and every day to help subscribers beat the lines and make money with their wagering. Need a place to get your action in? The New Orleans Hornets had their three-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, losing to the New York Knicks 113-96 while failing to cash in as a 6.5-point home favorite. New Orleans has gone 0-4 ATS over its last four games, but has managed to go a respectable 5-5 ATS over its last 10 games overall.

The Dallas Mavericks (17-7 SU, 13-11 ATS, 13-11 O/U) have won three consecutive games, including a thrilling 89-97 overtime win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday. The Mavs failed to cover the spread as 7.5-point home favorites and have gone just 1-4 AATS over the last five games and 4-6 ATS over its last 10 games overall.

Analysis: The Dallas Mavericks are clearly the better team in this matchup tonight and should be able to handle a Hornets team that is severely lacking legitimate scoring threats outside of Chris Paul and David West. I like the Dallas Mavericks to win this game, but I’m going to take the Hornets to cover a point spread that looks just a wee bit too high. The Mavs are averaging less than three points per game more than the Hornets this season and New Orleans has played very good basketball for Jeff Bower since he took over for former head coach Byron Scott.

The Hornets have gone a consistent 4-1 ATS in the last five meeting against Dallas and I think they find a way to narrowly cover the number tonight.
