The Lakers trashed the winless New Jersey Nets 106-87 on Sunday, easily cashing in for pro basketball backers as a 15-point favorite as Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 30 points and Pau Gasol added 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the win.

Analysis: The Hornets have put forth some very admirable efforts under GM-turned-head-coach Jeff Bower, but the ballclub doesn’t have nearly enough firepower to keep up with the Lakers in this game.

Not only has L.A. been getting some very balanced offensive efforts from his teammates recently, but the team has turned up the temperature on the defensive end of the floor as well.

“The defense is getting better and better,” Kobe Bryant told reporters recently. “We’re working really, really hard at it. Energy has been consistent. This is something we feel like we can maintain.”
