NBA | Feb 03, 2012 Indiana Pacers vs. Dallas Mavericks |
Total 190 un-110 at BETUS |
Won $100 |
| We think this number is way off the mark. We had this total handicapped in the low 180s so there is some great value here. These are two Top 7 defensive teams and we think they will do what they do best tonight. Both teams essentially allow 91 PPG this season, on average. Indiana has played three straight games over the century mark, but two of those games were against bad defensive teams in New Jersey and Minnesota, and the other one was against an Orlando team that has seemed to have lost its focus recently. They will have a much harder time scoring tonight against a Dallas defense that is tenacious at home. The under is 8-3 in Dallas’ last 11 home games and we think that when two defensive minded teams meet that you always have to focus on the under when a total in the 190-area is involved. We think the bookies are putting too much stock in recent games with this total. We expect this to be a hard-fought, smash-mouth game and we expect this one to unfold much like the OKC-Dallas game on Wednesday where both teams really tightened up on defense in the second half. | ||

NBA | Feb 03, 2012 Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic |
Cleveland Cavaliers +8-110 at SIA |
Tie |
| This Orlando team is pretty much in a tailspin right now. They know Dwight Howard is leaving soon and this team has not been giving maximum effort every night. They have played five pretty bad games in a row, four of them losses, with one win in that span, by six at home against a hopeless Wizards team that is even more hopeless on the road. This team is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games and continues to be overrated by the oddsmakers after a fast start. The Cavs are coming into this one well rested after having a rare two nights off (this team has fared well with rest and is 10-4 ATS with one or two night’s rest. This is a very scrappy Cleveland team that has been playing well and has covered in four of their last five. They are often undervalued on the road where they are 8-4 ATS, when compared to Orlando’s 4-7 ATS record at home clearly shows which team is overvalued here and we are getting a couple points here for the Cabs due to the names of the teams alone. We just think this is a really good time to go against the Magic and we actually think the Cavs have a decent chance for a straight up win here. | ||

NHL | Feb 03, 2012 Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Anaheim Ducks |
Columbus Blue Jackets +182 at 5DIMES |
Won $182 |
|
3-unit Play Take #9 Columbus Blue Jackets over Anaheim Ducks (10:05pm EST) It's crazy to think that the Anaheim Ducks could be this big of a favorite against anyone in the NHL. The Ducks did go on quite a tear right before the All-Star break but that's old news and we're still talking about one of the worst teams in hockey here. Momentum just doesn't carry over when you have a full week off, and they have the same talent that they did earlier in the year. Anaheim looked more like their old selves on Monday against the Stars as they were dropped easily 6-2. They take on an underrated Columbus Blue Jackets team tonight that should play the spoiler role well in the second half of the season. Columbus has some talent but they just have been very unfortunate with injuries, on the wrong end of some late-game heroics, and endured a difficult coaching change. They have nothing to lose now and I think they can hang tough with some of the lower level teams such as the Ducks here tonight. Tonight's price is just too good to pass up and I like the Blue Jackets to steal one here. Best of Luck - Doc's Sports |

NHL | Feb 03, 2012 Winnipeg Jets vs. Florida Panthers |
Florida Panthers -152 at 5DIMES |
Won $100 |
| 3-unit Play Take #4 Florida Panthers over Winnipeg Jets (7:35pm EST) The Winnipeg Jets have gotten off to a fast start after the All-Star break winning their first two games on the road against good teams. However, they were tightly contested contests that each went to overtime (one went to shootout), and were 2-1 victories by the Jets in games that could have easily gone either way. This will be Winnipeg's third game in four nights on the road and it's an even tougher battle than before going into Florida. The Panthers are 13-5-6 at home this season and they are coming off of a dominating performance against the Capitals on Wednesday night. With that win the Panthers catapulted into first place in the Southeast Division and I think they will bring some extra confidence in the second half of the season. I think the Jets are going to be a little too winded after playing two overtime games on the road, and this being their third game in four nights. Take the Panthers here as a home favorite. | ||

NBA | Feb 03, 2012 Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers |
Philadelphia 76ers +2-110 at BETONLINE |
Lost $110.0 |
| This Sixers team continues to be underestimated by the oddsmakers. This is a team that doesn’t have star power like the Heat, but what they do have is depth, athleticism, coaching and strong defense. That is the recipe for success in this lockout-shortened season. This is one of the top teams in the NBA against the spread at 15-6-1 and they are a very impressive 11-3 ATS at home. This team is also No. 1 defensively in the NBA for points allowed and they allow only 81 PPG at home this season. Points are going to be hard to come by for the Heat on Friday. Miami is probably the biggest public team in the NBA this season now that the Lakers are not playing as well as expected. Even though this team is great and a deserving favorite to win it all, they have been saddled with too many points too often by the oddsmakers. Miami is just 9-13 ATS on the season and a sorry 3-7 ATS on the road. This team is coming off an eight-point loss to a Milwaukee team that is missing its best player. They had only 37 points in the second half of that game. Bad games normally come in waves in the NBA, and we could see the Heat playing another sub-par game on Friday. This team has had a very home-heavy schedule lately. However, they have lost four of five on the road and their only win in that span was by three against a really bad Detroit team. While we think “revenge” is a way overrated angle for NBA handicapping, we do believe that it holds true in some instances. This game is one example where we think it will be a factor. The Sixers only bad loss of the season, by double digits, came against Miami on the road. Every time the Heat play they get the best from their opponent and they always have a bullseye on their collective backs. We think the Sixers will be even more motivated than normal to come out and play a strong game on Friday. The Sixers can score with Miami. They have shown the ability to put a lot of points on the board and trade baskets when needed. We think this team can hang with Miami on the offensive end. However, Miami hasn’t played well defensively on the road. They have allowed 105 PPG in limited road action this season. They did have some OT action on the road and part of that high number is due to the faster pace they are playing at this season, but there is no doubt that Philly is the better defensive team right now and we think that will be the difference in this game on Friday. | ||

NBA | Feb 03, 2012 Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New Jersey Nets |
Total 196 ov-108 at 5DIMES |
Won $100 |
| We have a good feeling that this total will go over 200, like so many of the Timberwolves recent games have. This team started off pretty slow offensively as it worked some new players into the mix. However, this team has been really jelling on offense lately and they are now a legitimate threat to go over 100 every time they take the court. This team has averaged more than 102 PPG in their last five, going 99 or higher in four of those games. What is most impressive about this feat, however, is that three of those opponents are in the Top 7 of the defensive standings for points allowed. They scored 99 last time out against Indiana (No. 7), they put up 101 on the Lakers (no. 5) and 105 in Dallas (No. 6). Minnesota has gone over in seven of their last eight overall. This New Jersey team gives up 98 PPG on defense, and we think Minnesota can get over that. You might look at the Nets recent defensive results and think that they have improved defensively. However, we think it has more to do with their opponents. Many of their recent foes are a “who’s who” at the bottom of the offensive standings. New Jersey has played some tough defensive teams lately, but this team can score, especially at home, and considering Minnesota has given up 100+ in five of their last seven games there is a good chance the home team can top the century mark tonight. We think there is a great chance that Minnesota can get in the 105+ range tonight and, although we lean to Minnesota to cover in this game, we don’t think it will be a blowout and the Nets should get their points too. The over is 11-5 in the Nets last 16 overall and 9-3 in their last 11 as a listed underdog. | ||
