Blazers coach ruptures Achilles

Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan ruptured his right Achilles tendon during practice Friday and will need surgery. He still plans on coaching tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets, but he won’t be hitting the road when the team goes on their four-game trip next week. Assistant coach Dean Demopoulos will take McMillan’s place starting Monday in New York while McMillan will have surgery on Monday.
